Creative Writing
When I first declared my minor, I was unsure if I would be able to handle the workload. I was in doubt that I would have time to complete this minor successfully. While the class was challenging, I enjoyed it. It was the first writing class that I took at college, and it won't be the last.
I got to write a few short plays for the first time. I have never written a dram before but after this class, I would like to explore that type of writing more. The one act, one scene, plays posed the challenge of creating a dramatic conflict immediately and developing characters in a short period of time. The given scenarios were strange but I felt it left more room to be creative. I never thought I would have fun writing about a card game and a man holding an umbrella.
I love being a Communication Sciences Disorders major. In Mirror to Mirror, an initiation story, I wrote a little bit about what inspired me to pursue a career in Speech and Language Pathology; all while learning how to parallel park with my dad in the passenger's seat.
Family and friends influence most of my writing. They are my crutch. For my final assignment I wanted to write something completely fictional. While Bad Meat is fictional, I needed to draw the inspiration from somewhere. When in doubt, I turn to those closest to me.
